Gender Policy

Policy Ownership and Authority

This Gender Policy is owned by the Executive Director of GOHAO Afghanistan. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring organization-wide implementation, enforcement, and resourcing of this policy. All staff, representatives, and affiliated personnel are required to comply with this policy.

Effective Date and Compliance

This policy enters into force on the date of approval and is mandatory for all GOHAO operations, programs, and partnerships. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action in accordance with GOHAO’s Human Resources policies.

2. Introduction

This policy is developed for GOHAO in partnership with AWEC. It promotes gender equality and empowerment of women and girls through education and community engagement.

Gender is a social structure that defines roles and responsibilities. In many societies, women face inequality, limited opportunities, and reduced access to power.

This policy aligns with international frameworks such as Human Rights Declaration, CEDAW, and UNSCR 1325, and reflects GOHAO’s commitment to addressing gender barriers in Afghanistan.

3. About GOHAO

Gate of Hope is an independent and non-partisan organization established in 2021. It operates in sectors like health, education, women empowerment, and child protection across Afghanistan and beyond.
